None of us used to be a huge fan of muesli (granola or Müsli) before Germany. We've always loved the taste and the health benefits of oats, but german specialties bring oats to a whole new level! The huge variety of store-bought Müsli, Streuselkuchen, Apfelkuchen, Hafer-Milchbrei, Müsliriegel caught our attention and oats became the healthiest part of out diet in Germany. (As we are used to fresh fruit & vegetables and good quality meat in Brazil, we ended up going through some tough time in terms of health and body weight there. A diet based on canned or frozen vegetables, tasteless imported fruit wasn't really something we were prepared for...). Anyway, the good thing about german food is Müsli and here goes a delicious homemade granola recipe. Healthy, easy to make and so yummy! 😋😋
Ingredients
200 g rolled oats
1/2 cup honey
1/3 cup cocoa powder
1/4 cup coconut oil, melted*
1 tsp vanilla essence
1 tsp ground cinnamon
1/2 tsp ground ginger
1/2 tsp ground cloves
pinch of salt
50 g dark chocolate, chopped
50 g raisins
20 g ground flaxseeds**
25 g pumpkin seeds
Method
Preheat over to 338ºF (170ºC). In a bowl, combine coconut, oil, honey, cocoa powder, vanilla essence, salt and spices. Mix in rolled oats and stir until well combined. Transfer to a medium size baking sheet and bake it for about 30 minutes, stirring every 10 minutes. It is not supposed to come out of the oven completely dry, it will naturally get crunchy when cool. Let it cool and mix in pumpkin seeds, chocolate chunks and flax seeds. Store in an airtight container or a tin.
*Depending on the room temperature, coconut oil becomes solid. For this recipe, we need melted coconut oil. Therefore, micro-wave the oil up to 30 seconds before combining with other ingredients.
**As nutritional benefits of flaxseeds are obtained when eaten groud, blend them for a couple minutes in the blender before combining with other ingredients.
Ingredientes
200 g de aveia em flocos grossos
1/2 xícara de mel
1/3 xícara de cacau em pó
1/4 xícara de óleo de coco*
1 pitada de sal
1 colher (chá) essência de baunilha
1 colher (chá) de canela em pó
1/2 colher (chá) de gengibre em pó
1/2 colher (chá) cravo moído
50 g de chocolate amargo picado
50 g de passas
20 g de semente de abóbora
25 g de linhaça**
Modo de preparo
Pré-aqueça o forno a 170ºC. Junte a aveia e misture bem.
